Peter Pan San Jose Theatre reviews
One Night of Queen
Lead Guitar was AMAZING!
Bass Guitar was really good.
Good use of colors and strobes, lighting was great.
Drummer was FABULOUS.
Gary did a good job honoring the presentation of Freddie Mercury. I did feel though his vocal range was not to par with the real Freddie. His motions seemed repetative, but I'd not seen Freddie so I can't make a fair comparison.
I appreciate the band left the stage in darkness during the extended harmonization portion of Bohemian Rhapsody with a flawless transition into a recorded rendition by the original group. Gary and Co did not insult us by standing out there the lip-synching, and recognized that they as a group did not have the vocal talent to attempt the musicality themselves. So I give them big kudos for being true to us, the audiance, as well as to Freddie and the band, by transitioning out of and back into the piece.
It was a good time. They created a fun, party atmosphere. Would I see them again? Don't think so. Maybe my expectation for the performance were a little too high. The 3 of us got our $$'s worth out of our balcony seats. Still had a good time and sang along with my favorites!
Worth every penny!
"I invested to see Peter Pan a second time this week after being gifted a ticket due to a donation to PBS. Rod Stewart was joyful, lite up the stage with his energy, and was so engaging that I have been thinking of going again all day. Run, don't walk to get the best ticket you can while he is in Las Vegas. I always liked Rod Stewart's music, and I am 57. Some of my peers in the audience provided the only negative. They forgot it is a concert and getting up and dancing is what you do at concerts. I wish Rod Stewart would announce that those who came to sit and just clap after every song should go to another show!"
Fantastic Concert
I love this show because it's for kids and the community. First of all, Peter Pan, Staind, and the boys from Shine down are loved by me. This concert was awesome. These guys don't lip sync, which is what makes it the best. But there were some hiccups. It was awesome. My only complaint was the venue - perfect size, but no reentry. It would have been nice to know if we should have brought chairs or a blanket. Not everyone has been to certain venues. Otherwise, this concert was worth the sore rear we had at the end of the show. Local food vendor had great food. It was perfect. Looking forward to Peter Pan and friends concert next year.
Peter Pan finally took the stage wearing a pinstriped suit and matching vest in true Detroit fashion. Downing took the audience on a ride from 197? to the present singing Barry White's I'm Going to Love You Just A Little More Baby, Luther Vandross' Don't You Remember You Told Me, as well as his own hits. A smaller theatre with great acoustics, the venue was great. After giving us a taste of the unreleased Kem 3, he entertained the audience both musically and comedically. They had great chemistry. Will Downing opened up the night. He also did an outstanding rendition of Frankie Beverly and Maze's Golden Time of Day. And then he and his back-up singer did an excellent job singing the duet Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This. Kem returned for an encore singing 2 songs before calling it a night, leaving the stage after singing songs like I Can't Stop Loving You, Love Calls, It's a Matter of Time, Find Your Way, Heaven, and Into You.
